Overview
Air Jet Mill, also known as a jet mill, is a type of grinding equipment that uses high-velocity airflow to accelerate particles and achieve impact-based size reduction. It is widely used for the pulverization of ultrafine powders and high-hardness materials in industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food processing, mining, and materials science.
An Air Jet Mill can generate extremely high grinding energy by accelerating particles within a high-speed gas stream. Without the need for additional heating, it can reduce materials to very fine particle sizes. This makes it particularly suitable for processing oxidation-sensitive, heat-sensitive, or temperature-sensitive materials, since the grinding process typically occurs at low temperatures.
Working Principle
D50:2-45µm。 An Air Jet Mill forms a complete grinding system together with a cyclone separator, dust collector, and induced draft fan. After filtration and drying, compressed air is accelerated through Laval nozzles into the grinding chamber. At the intersection of multiple high-pressure air streams, the material undergoes repeated collision, friction, and shearing, resulting in fine pulverization. The ground material is carried upward by the airflow under the suction of the fan into the classification zone, where the horizontally mounted high-speed classifier rotor generates strong centrifugal forces to separate coarse and fine particles. Fine particles meeting the required size pass through the classifier wheel into the cyclone separator and dust collector for collection, while coarse particles descend back into the grinding chamber for further milling. Vertically installed classifier rotor, which can be configured with one or multiple rotors. Variable-frequency rotor speed, allowing flexible adjustment of particle size distribution. Grinding range: D50 = 2–45 µm.
