Environmental-friendly desulfurization

Sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO₃, baking soda) is an ideal adsorbent for flue gas desulfurization, with dual chemical and physical adsorption capacities to remove acidic pollutants (SO₂, HCl, HF) and trace impurities. When fine powder is sprayed into high-temperature flue gas (140-250 °C), it decomposes into non-toxic byproducts (Na₂CO₃, H₂O, CO₂).
 
Key chemical reactions:
 
NaHCO₃ + HCl → NaCl + H₂O + CO₂
 
2NaHCO₃ + SO₂ + ½ O₂ → Na₂SO₄ + H₂O + 2CO₂
 
NaHCO₃ + HF → NaF + H₂O + CO₂
 
A slight excess (stoichiometric ratio 1.1-1.3) suffices due to its high reactivity. Raw sodium bicarbonate (D50≈200μm) needs precise grinding: D90<20μm for SO₂ removal and D90<35μm for HCl removal, enabling over 95% SO₂ and 99% HCl removal.
