Overview

Raymond Mill is a commonly used powder processing machine designed for fine grinding of various non-metallic minerals. It is widely used in industries such as mining, building materials, chemical processing, and metallurgy. The equipment is suitable for materials with a Mohs hardness of no more than 7 and moisture content below 6%, such as limestone, calcite, barite, talc, gypsum, marble, and quartz. A Raymond Mill grinds materials through the compressive and rolling action between grinding rollers and the grinding ring. Combined with a classification system, it enables precise control of the final powder fineness. The machine can typically produce powders in the range of 80–325 mesh (and in some cases even finer). The equipment features a compact structure with a small installation footprint, stable operation and low failure rate, uniform and adjustable product fineness, high production capacity with relatively low energy consumption, and good sealing performance resulting in minimal dust pollution.

 Working Principle

The Raymond Mill completes the grinding process mainly through the compressive rolling action between the grinding rollers and the grinding ring, combined with airflow classification. After preliminary crushing, the material is conveyed by a bucket elevator to the storage hopper and then fed evenly into the grinding chamber of the Raymond mill through a feeder. After the main unit starts operating, the grinding rollers are pressed tightly against the grinding ring under centrifugal force and rotate with the main shaft. The material is subjected to rolling, compression, and grinding, gradually being pulverized into fine powder. A blower generates airflow that carries the ground powder into the classifier for particle size separation. The classifier controls the fineness of the powder according to the preset rotational speed. Powder meeting the required fineness is carried by the airflow into the cyclone collector. Qualified fine powder settles and is collected in the cyclone collector and is finally discharged through the outlet as the finished product. Coarse particles that do not meet the required fineness are returned to the grinding chamber for further grinding, forming a closed-circuit grinding system.
